Reminder ads and Ads in Search Results

People come to Instagram to discover new brands and products. Instagram is now introducing two new ad products that offer businesses more opportunities to be discovered and build valuable connections:
  • Reminder ads
  • Ads in search results.

Reminder ads

Instagram recently partnered with brands such as Starz to test a new ad format. This makes it easier to announce future events or launches people might be interested in, remind them and keep them informed.

Reminder ads are available to all advertisers and help you build awareness and engagement for scheduled events on Instagram. People can choose convenient reminders and receive 3 notifications: one day in advance, 15 minutes in advance and at the time of the event. Ideal for event organizers to promote events on Instagram as well, which previously could only be done through Facebook.

In addition to ads, you can also add reminders to your organic Instagram posts.

If you are a creator or business, you can create Instagram posts with reminders for your scheduled events. People who see the post can tap the notification icon at the bottom left of your post to sign up for reminders for your event. You can add a reminder to a message with branded content and to a message with product tags. You can also share a message with a reminder in Stories. 

You must make the post at least 1 hour and no more than 3 months before the event.

Create hype around your scheduled events with Instagram posts with reminders

Follow these steps to create Instagram posts with reminders for your event:

  • Create a new post for the Instagram view.
  • Under New Message, tap Add Reminder.
  • Enter your event title and select your start time. You can also add an end time if you wish.
  • Complete your message and tap Share.

Now people who see your Instagram post can choose to get a reminder for your event.

After you add a reminder to a message, you can create more messages with reminders for the same event. You don't need to add new event details. Instead, select Add Reminder and choose one of your existing events from the list. 

If you want to edit or delete a reminder, tap ... at the top right of the message and select Edit. Then tap the line with the event name and start time to edit the event details or delete the event.

Ads in search results

Instagram is also testing ads in search results to reach people actively searching for businesses, products and content. Ads will appear in the view when people tap on a post from search results. Instagram plans to launch this placement globally in the coming months.

So keep an eye out for the new opportunities within search results.
