Not just Digitong
As part of my undergraduate course in communication management PXL University College at Hasselt, I was allowed to do an internship in my last semester, says Daan. In the subject of data-driven communication at school, I had my first touch with Google ads and analyzing data. I found this super interesting. In my search for a suitable internship, I came across Digitong. As Google Premier Partner seemed like an ideal internship to learn more about my new interest. After I submitted my application, I was invited for an introductory interview after a brief phone contact. For me, the choice was quickly made and apparently there was a match along both sides. I was allowed to start my internship at Digitong!
I enjoyed doing this one at Digitong. Going from school to the workplace took some getting used to, but thanks to the great guidance here, everything went smoothly. My first weeks at Digitong I was immersed in the sea of online marketing, and I'd like to tell you a little more about that. After graduating from high school, I wanted to go in a completely different direction. After a long search, I had found a direction I could sink my teeth into, namely Digital Design at the PXL in Hasselt, says Sam.
For the internship track in the 2nd year, I looked for growing companies with a lot of variety in projects. A positive group atmosphere was also an important focus for me. Since Digitong is still growing, I thought it would be very interesting to apply to them. During the first interview we had together, I immediately got a positive impression of the group and immediately felt that I could bring out the best of myself here. Digitong gave me the opportunity to work as an intern front-end developer, learning by doing. Soon my passion for web design and web development began to grow.
From marketing to development
Within the marketing team, I was able to sample all the jars. Social media- and search advertising, copywriting and content planning, audits and strategic thinking and much more, says Daan. As an intern, this gave me the opportunity to find out what I like to do myself and what I want to learn more about. For me, this was the whole package of Google. In addition, it was also just cool to work on such a broad client portfolio: Core Festival, Circuit Zolder, Publisher Averbode, Vestio and many more.
In addition, after just one month of internship, I was also allowed to take full charge of a client. For Vespatoerist, a vespa rental service in Tongeren, I was allowed, under supervision, to fully maintain the Google ads and take care of the monthly reports. Throughout my internship I was given a lot of freedom and responsibility for different projects. The projects I realized ranged from logo design to feature development or even complete websites. Because of the variety I was able to find out which projects I found more interesting and where I can specialize in the long run, says Sam. One project I had the pleasure of taking on from a-z is Success Keys. Here, the client had asked me to completely convert the website to WordPress CMS. This I did and I had modified some elements within the design to make it more pleasant to read for the user.
Daily life @ Digitong
One big plus of working at Digitong is the team! The colleagues are great. Everyone is always ready to help with questions, give advice and just have a nice chat. And our smallest colleague is always ready for some attention! Together with our Georgie we go for a walk every afternoon. We also have a lot of varying clients and assignments that we do for them. Every day is a new opportunity to learn all kinds of things and is never the same as the day before. And the fries from the Pause are actually not to be missed 🙂
